OBI Foundation for Bioesthetic Dentistry
Testimonials
"As OBI continues and the Alumnae assume responsibility, we can be confident that the concept of Bioesthetic Dentistry will create a paradigm shift in dentistry. Bob Lee would be proud of this and you must know he is so grateful to you all, just as I am."
Arlene Lee, Director, Lee Institute

"OBI has changed my life, my attitude, my understanding of what I'm doing in the mouth. Thank God for the genius of Dr. Lee and your commitment to teaching it. I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to learn the philosophy an implement it in my practice."
Michael S. Patner, DDS, PT

"My staff and I take extreme pride in being a part of the OBI family. I've practiced 28 years and have just now found the people who make dentistry challenging and exciting again. I see this training as being the culmination of my dental education."
Daryl Ruby, DDS

"OBI has completely changed the way I look at a mouth and the way I will practice for the rest of my career. Thank you all very much."

"The handful of dentists that have been given this gift of knowledge, conceived by Dr. Lee and advanced by Dr. Wold and his support staff, are indeed a privileged few. The knowledge is powerful in it s simplicity and truthfulness and enables dentists to restore debilitated mouths to a state of natural beauty and health never before possible. My patients and I will be forever thankful."

"I was introduced to OBI and Bioesthetic dentistry by two doctors in Bozeman , MT. I was Dr. Todd's Level III patient and I learned more about joints, muscles, occlusion, causes of tooth wear, and biology as a patient than I have ever known or understood or just dismissed as "that's the way it is." After attending the OBI annual meeting I immediately watched the level I tapes, took level II and am enrolled in level III.
"If the principles of Bioesthetics are used (form of the joint, form of the occluded dentition, form of the teeth) and followed in a systematic manner we as dentists cannot get lost. I am a pediatric dentist and I see teeth as they erupt and they are sharp with no wear and are beautiful. The use of healthy, biological, and natural, long lasting dentitions as the model for treatment for unhealthy dental systems only make sense. Use the biological model, the one nature gave us.
"Bioesthetics is the way I was treated and the way I will treat my patients because it will last.
"OBI, and Bioesthetics has change me personally and professionally forever! Thank you!"
"My experience with OBI, as a dentist, actually began as a patient. In 1995, I went to hear Dr. Lee give a Level I in San Francisco . It was two days of lecture 8 hours per day at that time. I wanted to hear if what he thought made enough sense to get my occlusion corrected for the third time in my life. I had my answer by noon the first day.
"The really odd thing that happened though was that I felt that learning this kind of dentistry seemed very exciting and rejuvenating to my soul. Up until that day, I was really looking forward to getting out of dentistry a.s.a.p. I called my wife from California and told her of my excitement about this new knowledge. She encouraged me to do whatever 'made me happy'.
"The knowledge and confidence that I have gained in diagnosing and treating the most difficult cases, is unbelievable. But just important to me is that I am now associated with a large group of people that have no ego problems, would do anything for me, and are more than willing to help me continue to grow in my knowledge of jaw function by offering their opinions and advice on the most difficult of cases.
"Lastly, this knowledge has given me the opportunity to diagnose and restore the dentitions of my two children and my wife. There has never been anything in my 28 years of dentistry more fulfilling than that."
With great honor and joy,
Charles H. Hayes, II, DDS
"Every once in awhile you run into one of those things that just really makes sense - it fits with what you are seeing. OBI is one of those things!
"The principles of OBI opened my eyes to the way God designed our chewing system. OBI gave me the tools and confidence to be able to diagnose early problems as well as restore the difficult cases."
Gary Sanchez, DDS
"I have always loved dentistry and the wonderful services and care we provide for our patients. My excitement for dentistry has increased tremendously since my involvement with OBI. Bioesthetic dentistry is the ultimate in patient care because it addresses the stomatognathic system as a whole. One part is not independent of another and OBI teaches how it all works together -- the brain, cranial nerves, muscles, TMJ and teeth. This systemic approach has allowed me to restore mouths that, in the past, would have seemed impossible. To put it plainly, Bioesthetic dentistry just makes sense -- it is the truth."

What does OBI mean to me. On so many different levels OBI means a great deal. From a technical perspective I have never found anything that prepared me to diagnose and treat failing chewing systems with ANY degree of complexity than Bioesthetics. The three principles of Bioesthetics are my dental bible. I always know where I want to go and that makes finding my way a much simpler process. Another wonderful aspect of OBI is being part of the teaching faculty. I truly enjoy helping others on their journey. On a more spiritual level, if you will, being a part of the OBI family has been a great opportunity to meet and become close friends with some wonderful, wonderful people. Bioesthetics demands such dedication to learn and really practice that when you are side by side with other bioesthetic dentists there is a real sense of fraternity and loyalty. It's the best!!

"I have always been drawn to the study of occlusion and consider it key to oral health for a number of reasons. Immediately after graduation from dental school, I began my quest to understand occlusion. I studied the philosophies of, took courses from, and listened to Dr. Niles Guichet and the Society of Occlusal Studies, Drs. Farrah and McCarty, Dr. Barney Jankelson and all the courses at the Myotronics Corporation, Dr. Harold Gelb, Dr. Janet Travell, Dr. Larry Funt, all the continuums at the Pankey Institute, Dr. Peter Dawson, Dr. Alvin Filastere, Dr. Henry Tanner, and the Chilean physical therapist, Mariano Rocobado, prior to starting OBI training. I learned from all of these people and their philosophies, but I found that no one had an approach that would give me the principles that I needed to carry into patient care and get consistent results. Of all these approaches, it was the Pankey Institute tat seemed to have the best approach to restorative dentistry. After finishing the Institute in 1989 I felt confident I had mastered occlusion. I used the principles that I learned for five to six years. During that time, I realized that the treatment I was providing was not working for 30-40% of my patients. Either I did not understand and wasn't using the techniques properly or something was missing. After listening to Dr. Lee at a Level course, I realized what I was missing. It was a way to reach and confirm stable condylar position. As I started my Level 2 course at OBI, my local orthodontist in Wyoming , where I practiced at the time, asked me why I was going to another occlusion course since I already knew more about occlusion than 95% of the dentists in practice. I replied that if there were some principles of occlusion that I did not know, I would continue to pursue those principles."
"After practicing the techniques taught by OBI, I have confirmed that OBI's position on stable condylar position and their clinical techniques can withstand the test of time. I am convinced that the principles work and hope my message will help others. It has created a whole new way to look at dentistry."
Larry Bennett, DDS
"I had been out of dental school for only four years and was loosing interest in the 'single tooth' type of dentistry. I wanted more from dentistry and was searching for a program that could give me the answers I was looking for. I attended an OBI annual conference to find out more and was hooked from the start. It has been an incredible journey that has not only answered my questions about the masticatory system, occlusion, TMD, and complex restorative cases; it has also given me new energy, excitement and confidence in dentistry that I didn't realize was possible. To be able to help a person achieve a stable comfortable, functional chewing system based on biologic principles is truly incredible. I consider the opportunity to learn from the best in dentistry a gift that my patients and myself will be forever thankful for."
